Default My Visit with HKVal

Hello all.

I wanted to share with everyone here my awesome experience this past week. Howard and his wife, Val, were so kind and generous to welcome Christine and myself into their beautiful home while were on vacation in Naples. While there, we were able to put faces to names and further solidify the friendship bond that we share here on AA. With Howard and I being who we are, we weren't going to let this opportunity slip without getting a demo in.

Howard had all the great nuances to a wonderful demo thought out and prepared; he even allowed me to sit in the 'sweet spot' on the couch in his own home.

With my copy of the demo list in hand, we started our listening session. I really enjoyed all of the selections Howard had made for I hadn't really heard much from the majority of the artists. That certainly didn't take away from the experience but rather enhanced it. A few of my favorites included instrumentals from Lee Ritenour; Melody Gardot's rendition of 'Somewhere Over the Rainbow;' Larry Carlton (I'm a sucker for a great harmonica); and Euge Groove (track 5 on the Born 2 Groove album).

I cannot put into words how much I enjoyed this whole experience with Howard, Val, and Christine. Even after the music was over, we all sat around and got to know each other even better.

I would like to thank Howard and Val again for everything you did, we truly appreciated it. I would also like to take the time to thank Ivan for all of his time and effort. We all know things like this and more wouldn't be possible without such a great person leading the way.

Many many thanks,
Sean

P.S. - a couple of pics to follow shortly

Sean.......This kind of visit warms my heart. It is a joy to welcome people into your home, and share common interests, especially audio. I can imagine it was just as much fun for Howard and Val as it was for you and Christine. Thanks for sharing your visit.

Dan, thank you for the kind post. Things like this and what Howard and Val did are what it's all about for me. I believe I can firmly say that all parties enjoyed it, judging by the fact that we were over there for right around four hours.....that is unless Howard and Val were dying for us to leave

It is my dream that I can return the favor to Howard, Val, and any other AA member in the future as I slowly but surely "set up shop."

This is great....I have met Howard and Val at Ivan's, but as yet have not experienced the treat of visiting their home. I've been invited but have yet to get down there....I will, hopefully soon. They are wonderful people, and that's a dream system, to be sure.

Ivan, I am glad to be able to share it with everyone here! I agree - Howard and Val top-notch hosts and I cannot thank them enough.

Christine and I would love the opportunity to make it over! Howard told me that you two are close and re-affirmed my presumption that you are most generous when it comes to hosting and welcoming friends into your home. I also heard that your Cape Cod Experience went smoothly and was a blast; I'm glad to hear it!

Sean... Great to hear. Hearing about fellow AA members getting to meet each other is one of the great things (among many) about this site.

.....I almost forgot! The demo could not have been complete without an amazing appearance from Shakira. She has talents that are unspeakable.

I also noticed that I didn't mention the beauty and awe I encountered when first coming into contact with Howard's system. He told me that it has been a life-long trek, but that he has been able to find his Mecca of Sound. I can positively say that any audiophile would agree that Howard's hard work has paid off. I was shell-shocked to hear how lifelike everything sounded.

Truly amazing!

Pete, I could not agree more - Howard and Val are really great people. If you can, I highly recommend trying to make down there. I had an incredible time.
