My first standalone was when I was in HS in the 90's, Marantz had a factory (or warehouse?) near where I grew up and when they were shutting down they had a huge closeout sale. Got myself a set of speakers, a preamp/amp and a standalone digital tuner. I can't remember the model, it was very basic, I remember the remote basically had power on/off, up/down tuning, preset up/down and a AM/FM button. It was the first time I truly got into radio and I remember getting excited over picking up distant AM stations with my simple loop antenna.

My first tuner was a Marantz 105 that died when my roomate's dog peed on it (along with the amp below it). Next was a Yamaha T-1 which I still have.
