Hi Foxtan,

Welcome to AA!

Regarding the MPC-12A, AFAIK, this product is discontinued, and no longer in production. The new Venom V16 PD has newer and improved noise reduction technology. Also, the outlets in V16 are completely new, and grip the power cord plugs considerably more tightly than the older-design outlets for a better connection to the PC's plug. And, it has four more outlets.

And...it also has the proprietary Shunyata GP-NR (ground-plane noise reduction) technology, which the MPC-12A does not.

If you prefer a top-access, you can buy a Rack Mount version, and place it face-down so the outlets are oriented vertically. The front panel of the rack mount version is a perfectly flat peice of aluminum.

Job done.

I should have added that’s it beautiful as well.

It's very comparable with respect to many audio quality attributes to the Denali V2, but not all. It doesn't have the magnitude of NR the Denali has, and it doesn't have the QR/BB subsystem, so it won't convey dynamics and immediacy in the same manner the Denali or Everest would be able to.

That being said, for the price, the new Venom V16 is an absolutely terrific PD for the money, and especially so if you buy it bundled with a Venom NR power cord.

Here's a "lifestyle" shot I took of the new PS10...

It's small, light, and can be placed in a number of locations very easily. And, top-access for ease of installing PCs behind racks. It's also excellent for notably improving the video and audio quality in home theatre set-ups. I have a fair bit of listening time in my main system and also for use for home theatre with this bad boy, so if folks have questions, just let me know.

Just a killer product for the money.

Steve that’s for all this additional info on the power conditioners. Greatly appreciated.

My guess is that the V16 will easily beat any competition at close to, or even slightly above, its price. I’m also guessing that the Denali will still be a significant step up though.

I had asked Shunyata a few months ago how the Delta D6 might compare to my original Denali. It was pointed out to me that the Denali - even the original model - falls in their Reference series. The technologies in their Performance line aren’t as advanced (my paraphrase). The Venom line is one rung below the Performance line so that should provide a clue about relative performance.

Interesting that the new Venom PS10 has a captive power cord. I’d bet that allows them to improve DTCD. It’s a good move, I think.

Yeah, for PDs with ≥10 outlets, it's going to be better than pretty much everything until you get up to the level of the Alpha A12 (I'm not including the Delta D6 here is that is a different class of product, primarily for use with digital devices). And, yes, the Denali V2 is a big step up. The extra ~26 DB of of noise-reduction and the QR/BB device in that really sets it apart.

The fact it has a captive noise-reducing power cord is a key attribute to its performance. So, agreed it's a good design move.

It looks like it’s a Venom NR-V12. These have been discontinued so it’s good to see it resurrected here. It’s a heck of a bargain. I still have one feeding my Marantz receiver.

I do wonder though if the former PS8 could scale beyond the new PS10. Most likely that’s the case, but given all the price increases the PS8 would be a lot pricier now.
