Exactly ... the term "bookshelf" is a dumb term.. nobody really puts high end speakers on a bookshelf... you put them on a good stand and they will sound as good as any smaller floor model speaker if they're good... as those are, and I've mentioned the XR50's are.. JBL makes some good ones also...

You pretty much have to spend $2000-$5000 or a decent pair, but they will sound like large floor model speakers sound when sitting in a 18x20 room...

The KEF LS50 effortlessly fill up a room with much bigger sound than one would think. https://youtu.be/asAlyymZvKI

With all due respect, the OP is asking about CHP gear and his room size, it doesn't seem like he's asking for speaker advice, but that's what he's getting.

Fair enough, but the only factor that matters in terms of room size is speakers... I have a 450w/channel amp in my little room.. I could just as easily have a 100w/channel or two 1.2KW mono blocks... what matters is the sound coming for the speakers and how that reflects / absorbs in the room... Thus, the speaker discussion...

He could just as easily be asking about D'Agostino amps, and the end result is the same... what speakers are you using?

I missed that too, but those are some powerful and power hungry speakers, room size or not, you need a lot of amp to power them... you're sort of committed to "Big" amp in my view.

Ok, now it makes sense that you guys were talking about speakers so much!

I do agree the most basic consideration in a system is the speaker and room interaction, but it sounds like he is happy with and keeping the Atria's.

It’s taken me awhile to make my decision. Life has thrown me a few curveballs. I have decided to pull the trigger on the CH Precision A1.5/L1 combination. I listened to the I1 integrated and it was clear to my ears the A1.5/L1 was superior. Probably even more important, my wife agrees. I’m waiting on a couple of things to transpire, but I expect to order them very soon. I’m little concerned about how long it may take to receive the equipment once it’s ordered.
