I agree with you 100%. I have no problem with them scoring 13 goals as this is the World Cup and its up to the opponent to stop them. With that said, I can really do without the choreographed celebrations when winning this big.

Did not take them long to start against Sweden. 1-0 after 2:40. Go girls.

Should be 'on the road', but watching the game as 5" of rain last night flooded the condo basement and waiting on the claims adjuster.

2-0 at 54' with a great individual show of skill by Heath.

Today's USA v Sweden match was very entertaining with fine play from both sides. The move by Heath on the second goal was special.

France has a terrific team, maybe #2 in the world, but because three other European teams will finish ahead of them in this competition and Europe has only three slots, they will not qualify for the Olympics. FIFA needs to fix this.
As several folks said yesterday, this game was worthy of a final. It's really too bad that due to luck of the draw it had to be a quarterfinal.

Default FIFA’s Women World Cup !

How many teams are in the Olympics if the loser in the quarterfinals of the World Cup does not qualify? That makes no sense.

This is from the 2019 FIFA Women's World Cup Wikipedia site:
Qualifying teams for Summer Olympics[edit]
The World Cup will be used by UEFA to qualify three teams for the 2020 Summer Olympic women's football tournament in Japan.[105] The three European teams with the best World Cup results (considering only the round they reach) will qualify. The scenario where there are teams in contention for Olympic spots eliminated in the same round,[106] is no longer applicable.

For the first time, as per the agreement between the four British football associations (England, Northern Ireland, Scotland, and Wales), Great Britain will attempt to qualify for the Olympics through England's performance in the World Cup (a procedure already successfully employed by Team GB in field hockey and rugby sevens). Scotland also qualified for the World Cup but, under the agreement whereby the highest ranked home nation is nominated to compete for the purposes of Olympic qualification, their performance will not be taken into account. In effect, therefore, eight European teams will be competing for three qualification places.[45][107]

UEFA teams qualified for 2019 FIFA Women's World Cup
Team Result in
2019 FIFA Women's World Cup Qualification for
2020 Summer Olympics
England Advanced to semi-finals Qualified (as Great Britain)
Netherlands Qualified
Germany Advanced to quarter-finals TBD
Sweden
France Eliminated in quarter-finals Eliminated
Norway
Italy
Spain Eliminated in round of 16
Scotland Eliminated in group stage Ineligible
After the United States' win in the quarter-finals, it is guaranteed that the three remaining semi-finalists, all from UEFA, will qualify for the 2020 Summer Olympic women's football tournament.
