Since 802 d3 are downfiring, is distance from wall less important?

My center b&w htm2 d3 has two rear ports, very hard to get these farther from wall as they are closer to tv, I have put absorber panels behind them.

For the 802's if you keep the rollers down, it should be easy to test different positions. You can run bass tests and use a SPL meter.

I use the test tones from this site, just make sure your pre-amp is not modifying anything in the low end when you start.
Also make sure no one is in the house when you do this! It will drive them crazy. Been there, done it. Almost got divorced.

Just put a deposit down on a pair of new 802's as dedicated speakers for my 2 channel system. Just really got into 2 channel in the last year and been sharing my 15yo N804's with my home theater system. I'm been wanting 802's for a long time and can't wait to have them delivered.

I listened to the Sopra 2, Kanta 3, Wilson Sabrina X, 803's before making the decision. But at the end of the day I knew the 802's were the ones I had to have!

Congrats! What is your front end system?

That's the problem. In the short term they will be driven with a Mcintosh MA5300. The plan is to ad a MC462 in a couple of months and then use my MA5300 as a preamp. Eventually I'll replace that as well.

Seems most go either Mcintosh or Bryston. I never heard B&W with Mcintosh. Dealers in Ontario don't carry both lines, or don't carry B&W.

Congrats on the purchase of 802. I pair them with MC611, and I like very much the combo.
Enjoy the 802

I have the 802D3s with McIntosh C53, MC452, MCT500, and MT5. I'm happy with the combination.

I have been very happily re-discovering my system since I added my REL 212SE subs. I also just added a Cary DMS600 which is amazing. I can listen to music with much more clarity, loudness, and with dramatically less demand on my MC-501 amps. I am really enjoy the natural combination of my components. My SLP-05 is glorious...

Mike,

Congrats again on the addition of REL 212 SEs. Tell me more about how they blend with your 802D3

I also want to add a pair of RELs subs (in the process of finishing the HT build on the 2nd floor), and am considering the 212, 812, or the Carbon special which is supposed to be very good as it borrows some of the components from their high-end subs such as no. 25.

Best,
Thanh
