So far Matsushita has GOBS more midrange than the Tele 7DJ8, with very similar frequency extremes - Tele maybe a little more high end. But still breaking in Matsushita (about 25 hours now) so highs could open up more.

Hmmm....interesting. I might have to pick up a set of these for the Pr17.

The Matsushita 7DJ8 - so far (50 hours) - sound is towards the bass side of neutral - 5 Neutral, this would be 3-4. The highs are there, but subdued...not sure if the highs are rolled off or if the low mid/ bass tilt is masking it. More hours to run on it before final thoughts.

This is what Kevin from Upscale had to say about them: "The sound? I used them here in a Cary SLI-80 Signature F1 and it was just like I remembered. The midrange is similar to a real Telefunken 6DJ8, but with better extension on top and bottom. There is a sense of humanity that is exhibited by the best in new old stock (NOS) tubes." 50 hours sounds like enough breakin with every other tube I have used. |

It will be interesting to see if the Matsushita changes any more. To me this tube exhibits the "stereotypical" tube(y) sound so far. Great mids...the highs are there with this tube and sweet...but they are subdued compared to the rest of the sound. |
