I expect the 300B-v with 7 watts will work well with these 97dB speakers because the bass is handled by the built in Hypex N-core 250w amp. So the 300B amp is only driving the 12" paper cone midrange and AMT tweeter. I think the crossover between the midrange and bass driver is 92kHz. Speaking from experience, I owned an earlier model Inspire amp, the build quality on the amps Dennis makes is top notch, and when you consider the Inspire 300B-v price includes WE300B tubes, it's a good value. |

Build times
It seems to me that Mr. Had, because of his expertise & years of experience can hammer out your amp easily in one day. More time is spent on run-in & just making sure all the tubes will behave properly. So each of his creations must preform to his expectations before it’s shipped. But my general recommendation [to be taken with a grain of salt (hey, my opinions are questionable)] is that if you can swing it, the Inspire 300PSE is so good that it’s a game changer. Through out my life I’ve heard many amazing live performances of many different styles of music. But to be emotionally effected by the artist seems to be sadly rare. But when it happens, it seems to justify life itself. Depending on what I que-up on the 300PSE this can happen regularly. SCORE!!! Sure you’re not going to experience subtle visual interactions, but those who have passed can still rock my world. And to me this is priceless. Thank you Mr. Had for enriching so many people’s lives. I know I can’t be alone. It goes way beyond “ hey, that sounds pretty good “.

BlackBess you seem like someone with opinions I probably wouldn't question, and I can relate to almost anyone who says they are emotionally moved by music. Based on yours and other comments about the 300PSE, I believe it would be a game changer. Probably should have just gone for it instead of the 300B-v. I'm not sure what they cost, if it's 2K more, well that extra out of the IRA would not make much difference long term.
BTW I've been wondering about this. PSE means parallel single ended I believe, but what does that mean? You have two tubes per channel operating as one single ended triode tube? And this means you have the same SET sound with more power? What is the output power of the 300PSE? One thing nice about this amp is you get four WE300B tubes that can last a lifetime. Other amps using four 300Bs, you are facing the need to replace them in the not-that-far-off future. |

No one has ever ‘splanded this to me, but from what I can imagine it’s like taking 2 single ended amps & using them as mono-blocks all in one chassis. Please will someone with real knowledge weigh in on this. Sad to say your tubes end up being a big bump up just on their own. WE wants $750 for a 300B, $1500 for a pair & $3200 for a quad, I believe. My amp came with a sweet Baldwin labeled NOS 6SL7, a cute little WE 396a & a NOS rectifier. The 3 NOS regulator tubes are relatively inexpensive by comparison. All in all this the first amp that I’ve owned that I have no desire to tube roll. My other Had, I change tubes like I change my socks.(an exaggeration) Though a pair of Mullard 6V6 tubes from the ‘60s deserve an extended engagement in the sockets. But no matter the cost, I consider the 300PSE a bargain. BTW Mr. Timeout59, with all due respect, it seems I really have you fooled. Thank you for giving me a reason to post on this plus-ultra forum. As for “power” I have another 300B amp with 2 Wathen 300B tubes that I don’t spin the volume knob as high with the same & even less efficient speakers, what ever that means. But oh, the sound.
Thanks, Ralph Last edited by BlackBess; 05-15-2023 at 05:44 PM. |

WE 300B tubes
And remember the WE300B tube has a 5 year warranty if you return the registration card.
