David, thanks for sharing this with us! Sounds like a lot was learned and enjoyed at the same time. You just cant beat that!

Can you give us a sense where your speakers/chairs moved to best compensate for your room effects? Maybe just a before and after snap shot of the room. What type of treatments are you thinking about for your room (that meet with WAF)?

Reg

It sounds like you guys had a great day: (test equipment, setup equipment, experimental audio equipment) I wish I could have been there. When you were listening with your eyes closed did you ever start to feel dizzy?

I'm with Reg in wondering how the speakers were moved, how far apart were they at the satarting point and how far apart were they after moving them?

Did you check to see if he would make a 3D filter box for you that you could purchase and keep in your system, could be a group buy here.

Victor I have the filter set up on my computer for a short time. If you would like to come over to hear what it sounds like let me know. I am sure Edgar would be happy to set this filter up for you but you would have to work out the details of the cost with him. PM me. David

David
Sounds very interesting. I am all for any product that brings music closer to what we hear in a live concert setting.

Don't go too crazy with treatments on you back wall. You have a nice looking room and finding the right balance between sound and tasteful is important.

Jim

I would love to come over but it's a bit too far, too bad we are not closer.

I don't have a computer in my system, I would need the hardware and software.

Victor, I can speak towards the "dizzy" question. While I didn't have the time for an extended listening session, the sense is absolutely not. It was simply more of where you were in relation to the music as opposed to some psychedelically confusing experience. It doesn't sound unnatural in any manner, rather, it sounds wider, deeper and just more "around" you. What was most telling was to have him turn the filter on/off during a piece. In those instances, the image would snap from way beyond the speakers to more in line with the speaker location. Aside from location, I could not discern any other changes in sound...and that is what Edgar said...the frequencies are not impacted, simply the depth and width of the soundstage.

Edgar did tell me that he has a manufacturer to make a stand-alone box which will accept all signals for filtering; however, I didn't learn anything more specific regarding availability or cost.

I'll let David address the speaker locations before/after as I don't want to dominate his thread.

David, here's an interesting thought. While the filter is room setup specific, I wonder what would happen if your computer were now put into someone else's system? I'd be curious to see if it would give any sense of what 3D offers, or if it would just be a mess of sound??
