By the way, I noticed much more improvement in sound from using the ring and clamp than using the SDS.

Guys...got my classic one last night and spent several hours setting it up. It was very difficult. I don't know why everyone says this is easy?
First of all I nearly ruined my cartridge because the supplied digital scale kept magnetically grabbing onto it. So I went with a Sure old school gauge. I guess I can throw that stupid gauge out. Oh and in china I guess it's a fad to make everything look like an iPod? Because that gauge has an apple logo on it. Wtf! The stylus pressure and leveling of the tone arm took forever because you adjust one and then the other ruins the first. After I got it mostly dialed in on a level surface I moved it to my rack and leveled the tt base again and fired her up. The sound is glorious! But...I can plainly see the tone arm is tilted. Is that normal? Seems bad...but sounds great. Maybe I need to perform all adjustments AGAIN? After moving it ? Argh?! |

Also, Vpi says they prefer no anti skating and instead use increased stylus pressure. I dialed my dynavector 10x5 to 2.4g, although dv says 1.8 to 2.2. But on some records, even new ones, I have skipping. Using the anti skate nylon string stopped it. I wonder what pressure they think I should be using?

Did you check the azimuth? That might explain your tilt. Unfortunately that will change your vtf. So be sure to recheck

What is the best way to do this? I tried but not sure if I am doing it right.

Yeah I laugh when everyone goes oh digital is so technical with PCM and DSD and formats...
What cartridge are you rocking? And how did setting up the phono section on the 2300 go? |

Dynavector 10x5. What setup on 2300? There are some capacitance settings but they don't do anything that I can tell.

One thing for sure... This thing destroys digital. Vinyl is the future! Lol
