Should have the new Sinatra SRO box, Nik Bartsch and Jacob Bro this weekend.
Looking forward to some quiet time with the new WA7 as well. Last edited by Humbuster; 05-04-2018 at 11:44 AM. |

It’s excellent. I’ve only listen d to the Copenhagen session so far. The sound is pretty good for a live recording, although there are some moments when Coltrane and Miles sound a bit distant from the mic - I guess that’s what you get from a live recording when it’s not planned on being released. The music, on the other hand, is wonderful. You can hear why Coltrane gets joint billing with Miles, this isn’t just a Miles Davis group. Miles is somewhat muted (pun intended) at times, while Coltrane is really in his element, and playing very freely (pun intended again) - long solos that really take flight and come close to free jazz at times. Great stuff.

Quote:
I find the set a joy to hear the rapidly evolving Coltrane from that time. Sound is decent enough to get into the solos. Great stuff indeed.

What jazz music are you listening to?
Frank Sinatra: Sinatra’s Sinatra
Mobile Fidelity Original Master Recording (1963/2010), vinyl This isn’t always the best reviewed Sinatra album, but it’s one of my favorites and I think sometimes underrated. It’s an excellent recording, and the MFSL vinyl is outstanding.
