Cornering The Yamaha Market...
I had a busy weekend...
On Saturday I auditioned quite a few pairs of bookshelf speakers before I selected a new pair of NHT Super Zero 2.1s I was also on the hunt for a Yamaha amplifier as the NHT's are a bit more than my Yamaha CR-620 receiver can push effectively. I ended up with the following Yamaha components: One (1) CA-1000 amplifier One (1) CT-800 tuner One (1) CA-2010 amplifier One (1) CT-610 II tuner The CA-1000 & CT-800 need a bit of TLC and don't power up. I'm hoping repairs can be made but I did buy them as parts only items. If they do end up working I'll flip them. The CA-2010 & CT-610 II both work and appear to be in pretty good condition although a good cleaning is in order. Between those four components plus my CR-620 receiver I should end up with a nice Yammie system with either extra parts or extra components for sale. I had too much dang fun this weekend...

The CA-1000 & CT-800 got here Wednesday. They look like crap but for what I paid for them, they are worth the price for parts.
I did some checking and a local vintage repair shop is interested in them after I strip off some knobs and such. I attached the NHT speakers to the CR-620 yesterday and they do sound nice. They just need more power than the receiver can apply. The CA-2010 & CT-610 get here today. I noticed that my CR-620 has no pre-amp feature so that may get flipped if the CT-610 works as advertised as it does have a pre-amp out. Pics later after I unbox the last two pieces and stack things up.

I unpacked the CA-2010 & CT-610II, then plugged them in.
Need some meter lights installed on both units, the slider on the tuner works smooth as silk, can't get a signal out of the R speaker terminal on the amp so there's a bit of work to fix that. I swapped from one set of inputs to the next and the next on the amp, testing the functions. Everything seems to be working fine except that pesky R channel speaker out. They both need a good cleaning, top to bottom, inside and out. The cases are OK but they could stand a bit of refinishing. Off they go to the shop tomorrow!

I've done it again...
A CT-410 tuner is on the way... A CT-810 tuner is on the way... A CA-600 amp is on the way... If I can find one more CA-2010 or 3010 amp then I will be done. I was so surprised how nice these setups sound with a decent pair of bookshelf speakers and a Sonos connect attached to them!
