Default Antenna for McIntosh TM-1 Tuner

Doe's this belong in the Tuner forum?
I have the MX119 with TM-1 tuner. It is currently connected to the Comcast cable but it seems Comcast does not broadcast or pickup all the stations over this cable. I do have an outside dedicated RG-6 I could use from an old satelite dish about 14' AFF. Or I could pull back into the attic and mount something a little more protected from the weather (and Fla Lightning). Attic space is tall, approx. 20' aff.
I'm located in the city so looking for something to pickup local stations within a 50 mile radius. I do live close to the beach so maybe an array of directional ant. for a combination of 180deg for multi-element array? Whatta ya think?

I bought an FM antenna from these folks - works real well.

I got the half wave dipole - it is outside up about 20 feet.

Chuck.......I have heard some good things about the FM Stereo 1/2 Wave Dipole antenna. How long is it from tip to tip?

I am presently using a 1/4 wave, base loaded Fanfare FM-1G outside, but I am in a rural location, with the nearest big city (Gainesville, FL) about 55 miles away, and the FM-1G has been a disappointment, even with a 10dB gain FM amplifier.

I thought the included antenna is for AM only?

I use a ST-2 antenna from Magnum Dynalab. They retail for $100.00 or so, but you can probably find them on ebay or Agon for less.

It is installed in the attic with coax cable run down inside wall to coax wall plate, located behind my equipment rack. I run a rather short coax lead from the wall plate into back of my Magnum Dynalab 106T. It pulls in stations from 90 or miles away clear as a bell.
For those of us (lucky) folks who have halfway decent FM stations in our area, the FM experience is a great way to broaden our music horizons.

jamesh.......The Fanfare FM-1G that I am using is the same antenna as the Magnum Dynalab ST-2. It is a good antenna, but my reception isn't as good as yours. I have my antenna mounted outside at the peak of my roof (28'). I use a 10dB gain RF amplifier to pull in stations up to 50 miles away in Gainesville, Florida. Beyond that range, not much.

+1
