ok thanks for that info, toga.
so, is the cms top surface made of metal?
so the metal discs couple to the metal shelf?
sounds a bit like the way symposium ultra works, by using metal couplers under the gear
to get metal-metal transfer.
my friend tried ultra 5's under his amp on symposium ultra amp stands, and it didn't do any good. was much better sitting on standard feet.

Top surface of CMS is not metal. It is something not 100 % stiff.
The difference to Symposium is CMS require the use of equipment original feet, with metal disc in between.
Symposium bypass original feet by using a tall metal couplers under equipment bottom plate. With original feet floating.

May be to protect softish surface from severely deforming under heavy load. Surface of Cms is similar to BMW's
Console material. Your nail can leave a mark, but it stands some weight with large contact area.

(Then how could I afford a set of CMS ? Because I could sold my FE rack this way)
I examined the bottom plate of Mephisto before too, there is no flat space to properly
Couple to something like 4 pieces of Ultra5, so many screw heads under bottom plate.

CMS itself work as a complete system I don't have to worry much about the surface below, the location
Of contact points as CMS require the use of factory feet.

But in instruction manual, it states many times that the thin metal disc must be placed under each feet.
Those discs are supplied in a kit.
Yes...i hear you on cost. I started out with 4 Ultra 5s under X1s, then Sub, then amp, power conditioner, transport and transport psu. HRS under the rest. Yep, all excellent, all 'worth it' now that i am done...and i feel like it has saved me from ever feeling the need to upgrade any components/speakers. But thats more a rationalization/justification...its still expensive!!!

What a sharp eyes. Yes, all shelves are now Black Platinum MK II.
I did it just to make it look right, sonic improvement is less than changing
from FE to CMS. But of course upgrading the very last bit is always like this.

Spikes ? Still no words, but as you may see from Acoustic treatments forum,
I am removing carpet very soon. I will install spikes once new flooring is done.

I am worried about new sound from new floor too. But yes, this carpet is very old and in hot and humid environment, I am sure
It is a home for many micro organism. I tends to cough more in this room when I have a cold.

Choosing new floor now
