Default New Saber 32 bit DAC Chip

http://www.twistedpearaudio.com/news.aspx

You can now build your own DAC from the upgraded version of the DAC chip inside the MCD500.

I'm going to keep a close eye on this. I'm certain that I can fumble my way through building a kit DAC with the help of a couple of people at work.

2uberoller and Carbonman
I always thought I was audio literate, but you guys have me ready to run to Borders and look for one of the Yellow and Black books, "Audiophile for Dummy's".

Stillone, you already have the Sabre 32 bit DAC in your MCD500. No additional reading is necessary!

I think the saber 32 bit is a upgrade over the 24 bit dac in the MCD500 . Don't worry though because as Ron C pointed out on AK alot of other things go into making the MCD500 sound the way it does ie power supply is better than in the kit version, quality of components etc. Having said that for less than $1000 it is quite a bargain, which is why I posted it here.

I may give it a try when they are available, but I'm sure I would need some technical help. I have been on their order waiting list for a while. I would be very curious to see how the new Buffalo DAC kit compares with the MCD500. Yes, it does seem that the power supply will be a key factor. We must return to this subject once someone here has built one.
