Meridian DAC Volume help
Hello all,
Looking for some help. My system consists of: Squeezebox Touch Meridian 568 DAC Audio Research Vsi55 DAC Dynaudio S1.4 I've set the Squeezebox Touch to max volume, and was setting the Meridian to max volume and controlling the volume the ARC amp. I noticed some tizziness, and things got better when I dropped the volume to 80% on the DAC and the sound from the system was just better. I'm wondering what the right way to set the volume on the DAC/Amp is. Any help would be appreciated. Amir |

Sounds like you are over driving the inputs causing distortion with max volume
try 65 to 70% |

Thank you. That is exactly what was happening.
I found out that unity gain on the 568 is when the input volume is set to 87. All is well now. |

Many times even that is too high not letting you use a good amount of your volume control
Remember the guys on the HH site are mainly using all Meridian components |

I went to Meridian Unplugged as well. 70 would be better? |

Meridian Unplugged AKA HH HitchHikers...
Set the gain so you use a comfortable range of your volume control |

All Meridian (digital) gear is done this way: '87' volume is zero gain.
In fact is as easy to discover this as changing the volume format ('Display' toggle): 87 will turn to be 'zero', 86 is '-1', 88 '+1' and so on. Check the calibration too to be sure to have al levels zeroed, and all speaker sizes Max'ed. More (much!) info on HH as said... |
