I've been using a Dual 1019 idler as a secondary TT for 78s, but after spending obscene amounts of time researching the new 1200GR and Gs I decided to pick up an older 1200mk4 which is the only 1200 to have a 78rpm setting built in until this new line. The removable head shell was definitely a selling point as I also got an Ortofon mono cart I'd like to use for mono LPs and 45s. The G was just too much of an investment as a secondary TT so an older 1200 was the right move for me vs the GR (which I realize also supports 78). It'll be a bit until I get a chance to hook it up though.
I kind of laughed through the video because it was like - Dude! where have you been for half a century! Those tables have been having removable headshells for decades!!!

He did mention a few of the techincal differences between the G and GR and they do appear significant.

At some point maybe later in the year or next year I plan to send my 1210 MK5 to KAB to get the full treatment.
