Default Shunyata Triton and Zi-Tron Cobra PC are here...

I recently pulled the trigger on a Shunyata Triton power distributor and 20 amp Zi-Tron power cord. They arrived today:

A pleasant surprise is that the Cobra Zi-Tron is notably more flexible than my Black Mamba CX power cords.

I couldn't find a fan today (apparently they are a seasonal item at Home Depot), so I'm going to jump in feet first and audition the power cord and distributor tonight, and then find a fan and start the burn in process tomorrow. Hopefully Target or Wal-mart will actually have a table fan in stock. The plan is to hook the fan up to the Triton for 16 or so hours a day, and also to the Home Theatre components for the next 10 days or so, switching out outlets, then install the Triton into the two-channel system. My Hydra 8 will then go to the Home Theatre system.

Stay tuned: I will be posting my experiences with this setup as well as comparisons with the Hydra 8 (which is no slouch).

Vhiner posted this about his Triton back in July:

The cord accomplishes a very neat trick: it unearths depths of micro detail while, at the same time, smooths out upper register grain and opens up space between instruments. I can't say that I've ever heard a piece of equipment do this so well.
So far, I think this is a very accurate and well-informed description.

So far, I am experiencing exacty the same improvements. That plus an increased transparency.

This is on my Premier 350 "burn-in rig" using my little Era D4s, no less. I thought the Eras were sounding great, but a tad rolled off in the upper frequency extremes and a skosh veiled. Well, the Triton/Zi-Tron stripped away veils of grain and extended and sweetened the treble of these wonderful little speakers.

We'll see what changes as things burn in, but I am sure enjoying myself on this particular evening.

Congrats! The current Shunyata Hydra range are great products. You could only do better with a Typhon to compliment the Triton in parallel unison.

What's most interesting is that I'm not even using this system on my main speakers. I'm using the second pair of Era Design 4s that are normally used for home theatre as L/R surrounds for burning in my C-J Premier 350 (at 356 hours right now).

What the Triton/Zitron did for this $700 little pair of speakers is pretty astonishing. They sound MUCH bigger and fuller, with notably better bass, than they look.

Wow! You did not mention this at RMAF Stephen - congratulations!

Keep us posted. This is on my list to do as well.
