Default New Hydra AV

Thought this looked like a very good idea... Shunyata's new Hydra AV.

Shunyata Research Hydra AV - The Audio Beat - www.TheAudioBeat.com

Vertical so it fits behind a rack... similar in style to the Cyclops (nice)... priced somewhere around the Talos but much closer to Triton in terms of the internals.

Maybe a combination of a Hydra AV and a Cyclops (for amp) both with Z Anaconda feed cables might be ideal.

A friend is getting a Hydra AV in shortly... looking forward to having a listen.

G

PS Also sounding interesting is the new Venom PS-8 power strip which has the 12 gauge CDA-101 cryogenic copper wiring and 8 premium Hubbel outlets. Also there's a Defender plug-in protection module with MPDA filters and surge protection... hopefully it's a magnetic Carling breaker like in the reference gear.

When they say performance is not quite up to Triton I would figure it will be near Talos performance?

Any news about the HydraAV being shipped and its performance compared to Triton or Talos?

Hi Crion,

We are simply waiting for the finished packaging. Everything else is complete. As long as there are no delays or errors with the packaging, we should be shipping in 3 weeks. I will be personally sending out notices to all dealers once they are ready for shipment.

The performance of the AV will be equal to that of a Talos as the internals are virtually identical.

You are welcome to send us your e-mail address to cservice@shunyata.com and we can send you a notification when they ship as well.

Best regards,

Grant

Great. I need one for my HT. The Triton really helped my two channel.

Question. Am I going to have to buy another Ztron Python with a 20 amp connector for this, or will the 15 amp version I received this week work?

I would like to upgrade my two channel Triton to a Ztron Anaconda, and use its Ztron Python on the Hydra. But that is only if the Hydra has a 20 amp connector like the Triton.

I found out today from Shunyata customer service that the new Hydra will also have a 20 amp connector like the Triton. I was pretty sure it would, but wanted to verify before ordering a $3k power cable. I wonder if they would exchange the cable if you bought it with the wrong plug?

It is now showing on the Shunyata site. Now I need to wait for The Cable Company to start carrying it.
