Howard.......I thought of you while I was writing about the Gold Lion 12AX7 tubes. Trust me, the Tung-Sol Gold Pin's are very nice sounding tubes. Don't get rid of them. There may come a time when you decide to swap them into the C1000T just for a change. It is always good to have a backup set of tubes. Spare tubes are an investment, not a liability, in my opinion.

I am curious if you have ever run the C1000T with the 501s and the C1000P with the 275s?

Richard.......I have had the C1000T in the main system with the MC501 amps. I did a head to head comparison between the C1000P and the C1000T when I first brought the C1000T home. Read that here: http://audioaficionado.org/mcintosh-...vs-c1000t.html

I have not introduced the C1000P into the two channel tube system in the studio. I thought about it, but I am so happy with the synergy of my solid state system that I don't wish to move the preamp from the main system.

Jérôme.......Magical pretty well sums it up. From the first note to the last I am still in awe of the way the tube system is sounding with the Gold Lion tubes in the line stage. I have been moving CD's from upstairs to downstairs several times today. Just can't get enough of this sound system.
