Telefunken labeled 7025
Anyone ever seen tele with 7025 markings......my father in-law had these stashed away for 30 years and have seen and own plenty of tele 12ax7 rib and smooth plates but never have seen a tele labeled 7025..... They all have the diamonds on the bottoms and the tele logo, a bit rubbed off but clearly the tele logo and say made in western germany.......anyone have info on these

Jeff.......The 7025 designation is a low noise version of the 12AX7. Those are nice tubes, both smooth plate and ribbed plate versions.

Jeff.......If you have access to a good calibrated tube tester, I would test each tube for transconductance, shorts, and gas, then sort them into pairs that are closely matched, labeling each tube box.

Hi Dan.......Yes I know about the low noise but have never seen any tele with those markings, I have plenty of other tubes with the 7025 but not the teles. Been doing a ton of searching on these but only one mention of them and that was by Kevin Deal of Upscale Audio........

I have a Hickok 600A and will test them but will look up a local friend with a tester to confirm the readings.......these things look new other than the rubbed markings.......7025 on teles is new to me

Jeff.......I did a fairly thorough search on Telefunken tubes and their history. No mention of Telefunken 7025 marked tubes. The may have been part of a special contract with someone. The certainly appear to be authentic.

Hi Dan......That's what I thought, they seem to be authentic as I have compared the logo ink (rubs off easy), diamonds on the bottoms and fonts of the made in western germany, internal structure etc......just can't find a darn thing on the 7025 markings......Interesting thing is these came in DuMont labeled boxes however DuMont never made tubes, the DuMont company itself (like Zenith) only made CRTs, and never made recieving tubes. DuMont marketed relabelled tubes from numerous sources.

Jeff.......Searching DuMont produced some vacuum tube information, but only that the company was a reseller of these tubes, including the 7025, manufactured from many different sources. I would wager that your 7025's were made specifically for DuMont by Telefunken. DuMont was certainly a large enough, and prestigious enough company to deal with Telefunken, and have tubes branded 7025 for them.
