With all the trouble I'm having with the Mac Mini setup I wish now I had gone with the Aurrender X100 instead. Can't remember what the model with the TB hard drive (biggest one offered) as I've spent about the same. I did know of it but for some reason was thinking it was much more expensive. My dealer has them in stock but never mentioned it but wouldn't have mattered as I thought I was making the right choice. Oh well ain't the first won't be the last.

Awe heck man now you tell me! Lol that's the way it is with this stuff especially digital. So many choices at some point you just have to make a decision and go with it. Sounds like your Mac mini setup was almost identical to mine snd you find the Aurender to be a little or a lot superior on SQ. I know it's got yo be easier to operate. How does it do grabbing hi-res stuff off the net? I've got to do something! Makes me sick staring at all this hardware and can't use it.

How do you get music into the Aurender? Looking at the back all I see are USB connectors. Is there an external disk drive that comes with it or purchase seperately? My oppo 103 doesn't have USB out. Since I saw the post about this machine I can't get it out of my head and If I can get everyone to give me a refund I may go ahead and get this. 2 of the pieces I need to part with the Dac and Berkekey come from my dealer in Texas who is also the one I would buy the Aurender from so he should work with me. The Mac mini is a different source but came with a money back guarantee so we will see if that's true or not.
I guess the prices I was seeing and why I passed on this machine are for the first units which were priced upward of $10,000 but the X100L I think is around $3500 if I have the model no's right. Is the unit itself all I need or are there other things like a disk drive or some other item that I have to include to get music in? Kick, kick, kick, kick ! Yea that's me kicking myself! First Impression Music First Sound myself darn, darn, darn!!!88 |

Here's the instruction manual. You'll find your answer in the "Transferring Music" section. It appears that with the latest software update you can only import music using a computer so don't get rid of that Mac Mini yet. And you'll also need a DAC so don't get rid of that either.

That won't work. The latest software will not let you use the USB port to import music. You'll have to hook the Aurender up to your network via ethernet as outlined in the owner's manual.

+ I can't help myself, I'm going to see if I can pop the drive out and add music directly. Stay tuned for an Aurender X100 adventure posting! Last edited by Golucid; 04-13-2015 at 03:11 PM. |

It will be an easy adventure. I picked mine up over the weekend and after transferring my music library (1/2 hour for 187 GB) I was up and running. The iPad app is amazing and it has Tidal integration. I should have done this sooner.
