I'm not surprised about the increased SQ. However, two things struck me (Google translation): 1) 'DP-750 VS DP-950 & DC-950 (disk-based) Transport The transport part mechanism is made of both models SONY' SONY as a custom OEM manufacturer? May be Accuphase has the transport manufactured by someone outside, but SONY? 2) 'DP-950 & DC-950 VS DP-1000 & DC-1000 (Disc Use) First Looking at each company's D/A converters, there are many manufacturers that upsampling inside the equipment, but in the case of accuphasal, oversampling is not performed at all. This is also a result of various verifications.' Strange. You cannot maintain a frequency response of 0.5 - 50'000 Hz +0, -3dB when playing back CD without upsampling to at least 176,4 kHz. Martin |

Even with upsampling, you can't get to 50kHz on the CD (Redbook) format.

Accuphase used Sony made optical modules since long ago. I think since CdP-X7ES and DP70 something like that. The main drive should be Accuphase in house’s, only the optical parts must be from larger company. Toga |

I think I feel safe to know it is made by Sony. |

I think in recent years Accuphase has resorted to optical modules made by SANYO.

Nothing. I just thought I had read somewhere, that the Accuphase transports since DP-800 were made by Accuphase themselves (except for the laser diode)
and Sony had ceased the production of SACD / CD transports. Quote:
In order for this filter to make sense with CDs, the sampling frequency before conversion must be greater than 2x50kHz. This means, an upsampling of the native 44.1kHz CD to at least 176.4kHz before conversion into analog is required. So 'no upsampling / oversampling' according to the test report cannot be correct.
