Lou.......It sure does look like fun, although it makes my back ache to think about it.

I was invited by Fast by Ferracci for the unveiling and a test ride of the new Ducati M796 Monster.

Default Another BMW yet so different....

Got a BMW F800R today. My first Beemer (motorcycle) .

Love it.

Always wanted a "naked" bike. Had plenty of sport bikes in the past, not feeling the need for extreme power in a motorcycle anymore and didn't want the radical riding position either. My back ain't what it used to be 15 years ago.

The F800R feels nimble and fast enough for "responsible" riding, very comfortable, smooth enough for a twin, plenty of HP, crisp gearbox, great Brembo brakes with ABS. Like the styling too.

I didn't think I would ever ride again but here I am... Guess I just missed riding too much.

Took my son to the parking lot and was teaching him the clutch technique. He wants to ride with me eventually.

Thanks Dan. Forgot to mention, it was a balmy 48F today and the heated grips is an excellent option to have. My hands were nice and toasty and I felt nice and warm. Put on about 65 miles today from the store to home.

Serge.......Heated grips? Real men don't need no stinking heated grips.

Serge,

Congrats.... I've always ridden BMW's although now I'm on two KTM's.

I have always like the 800's and thought it might be the perfect happy medium (read: one bike solution) between my 950 and 640.

Ride Safe.

I do remember a time in my twenties when I rode home a few times without gloves with the temps in the upper 30's 's and barely could get my hands off the handlebar. Took about 15 minutes of holding my hands over the stove to get my fingers moving again...

Thanks Stephen! KTM's are great bikes too. I had a KTM dirt bike once.

Went out for another ride today on the F800R. What a great bike. I am so impressed with the engineering and the feel of BMW bikes that I have decided to try to locate the 2011 R1200R model for myself and give the F800R to my son. The R1200R is really tough to get though.. If any of the fellow riders on AA comes across a BMW dealer that has an R1200R in Smoke Gray, PLEASE let me know!
