Sig
Anyone have any recommendations on whats the best sig for concealed carry? Right now I carry a hk p2000sk 357 sig. I've always liked sigs but wanted to hear some opinions of those who own/owned one.

I like Sig too. The P226 Navy is real nice.

I second the recommendation for the sig P230 series. Mine is in the blued finish which is lighter than the stainless. Great concealable piece with the cool de-cocking lever on the side.

Anyone one have any experience with the P229® SAS Gen 2? Looks like it could be a nice carry weapon.

Go to a range where you can shoot a number of Sigs and give them a try. One of the models will probably feel better than the others in your hand, that's the one to pay attention to.
Sigs are good guns, i've owned a lot of them, but I really don't like DOA/SA triggers, so I don't own them anymore. A person can get good with nearly any handgun out there with a lot of practice, but if you take your time to find the right gun for you, with that same amount of practice you will be better. Carrying a gun is not suppose to be comfortable, but if you get a real gunbelt, and a good holster, it becomes far more comfortable. I carry a full size 1911, and I don't even notice it anymore. I'd suggest a gun in at least 9mm, getting bigger isn't as important as putting the bullet in the right spot. Get the right gun for you, get good training, and good luck.

I have a vanilla .40cal P229 for a concealed carry weapon.
I do however prefer my 9mm P226. As for the great caliber debate I would say if I am firing one round then I pick my HK .45. The .45 has quite a kick. If I am firing more then 10 rounds then I would chose my Sig P226. |

One of the reasons a gun has more felt recoil is because of how it sits in your hand, and of course what it's made of. H&K, and Sigs have a higher bore axis than other guns. Get a gun to sit low in your hand (lower the bore axis) and you get less felt recoil. I feel less recoil shooting a 230gr bullet from my LB than I do shooting a 9mm from a 226, or a G17.
When I talk about the gun feeling right in your hand i'm trying to describe what it feels like to get a mechanical advantage from the gun. High cut in the front, the right grip angle, lower bore axis, all of these things let you get the best grip you can on a gun, that will help you shoot better. You combine a gun that gives you the best mechanical advantage you can find with the best trigger you can find and you buy that gun. Then you buy a lot of ammo, get some really good training, continue to practice that training, and you will have done the best you can.

To put KMC45's advice another way, handguns are like shoes, they have to fit right to be most effective. In my case I am far more accurate with single stack .45 ACP vs double stack 9mm. Have carried a .45 SIG P220 for close to 20 years. God I'm getting old!Never a malfunction witht his pistol using everything from jacketed ball to Hydrashoks to CCI Lawman.
