mbovaird, are you asking so you can ignore the advice?

Seriously, I would go with number 2. Having gone "big" on the MC2301's, you should keep going.

Finally, a HUGE congrats of the new amps. WORLD CLASS GEAR.

Default I know....

I know, I know! I promise to listen this time!!

While we are on the subject, can you guys recommend:

1. Some sort of meter so I know how many hours I have on the tubes? Do I need one for both the amps and preamp?
2. Some sort of tool to "test" the tubes?

Lastly, I've read about lots of folks rolling the tubes in the c500t, does this apply to the c1000t to?

Honestly, I don't see it happening with this one. If anything, a C1000P would be added. This piece is already a McIntosh classic & will become collectible.

C1000C/T is a keeper.

Many here use ENM T44 meters. I use T44F65A. It operates on 4.5v-60v DC. I have 150mm 6mm Shielded RadioShack cable dressed with TechFlex Flexo conductive, cable pants & viablue plugs. This preparation is small & compact enough for the meter to stiffly dangle from the MC2301 5v trigger out. The meter activates & counts when the amp is on. It has non-volatile memory & does not require batteries. You can use this solution for any McIntosh equipment or any gear that has 5v/12v triggers.

Tube testing is best left to an expert with the equipment. Test equipment is not cheap & it is difficult to come by.

Tube rolling describes the action of replacing tubes. A gentle rocking/rolling motion is required.
