Default Tidal

Did anyone have a chance to listen to a TIDAL system? They were at RMAF 2010. From my research over the 'gon, this brand is another winner.

TIDAL - true high end loudspeakers

Tommy...Tidal owners rave about them and they have been getting increasing coverage by reviewers here in the US slowly but surely. However they are extremely expensive. While I haven't heard them (I think they have a very limited dealer network here in the US), my main question would be can you get similar (albeit probably a different flavor of) performace from a US-based speaker company at a fraction of the cost.

Dumping the US distributor and going direct to dealers reduced the retail up to 40% on some models. The basic Amea is now 18,900.00 in Piano black, this same speaker was selling for nearly 40,000.00 a few months back. Fit and finish are unparalleled, African Mahogany is my favorite. Ive heard them at Axpona, CES and RMAF and they have always sounded amazing. I believe The Voice That Is located in PA is acting as distributor/dealer in the US.

Their engineering and parts appear top notch, I'd love to hear them.

Bob...from what I hear they are great speakers. Having heard them yourself, how would you describe their sonic signature? When I read reviews and Agoners comments on them, I imagine they sound like Thiels in some ways and Verity speakers at other times (meaning they excel at imaging, soundstaing, and resolution) with a very natural timbral and neutral tonal presentation (more so than Thiels and Verity). Is there a North American speaker line that you think the Tidals are similar to in house sound?

I remember popping into the Tidal room but I do not remember anything about it. Maybe Bob has some pictures. I think they were showing some piano black speakers and some matching gear.

Thanks for the info guys. It's interesting they went direct to dealers. That's great new for consumers.

I'm researching their electronics at the moment. Their preamp and amps seem to have all the magic their loudspeakers have.

Their loudspeakers have amazing finish, you can see that even in online pictures. The piano lacquer is 1mm thick!
