I say do it, but you will have to live with it, so consider the choice carefully.

Jim.......This should take care of that itch. A lot cheaper, too.

Buy the Luxman on A'gon if you can. If you don't like it and have to sell it later, you won't loose much.

I owned a Luxman 550 integrated and D05. Nice kit. Well made. Resale not great. Very muscular class A. Haven't heard the 800 + Pre but you want to be buying second hand and not selling your Mac until you are sure.

The D 05 is nice.

Hi Jim,

Just curious, what led you to consider Luxman? I've always been thinking about it because there's a local dealer trying to get me to jump.

Did you have a chance to listen to Luxman? How does it compared to CJ?

Hi Tommy,

No, I have not taken my dealer up on an audition yet. I am almost afraid to . I think I will in the next couple of weeks, just to satisfy my curiosity. He even wants me to bring my 911mk3 to test against the Luxman. As far as compared to CJ, that's a tough one. I think he only has the solid state M-600A amps set up as mono blocks, no tubes. The Luxman is supposed to be a warm, musical amp.

No the only Luxman I have heard has been the integrated, so it would be a leap of faith based on others comments. Based on longevity, reputation and styling about the only companies I would consider (in the reasonable price range) would be MBL, Accuphase and Luxman.
