How ironic that I retired young, at age 55. Not by choice, health. It's also why I no longer buy expensive audio.

I still do a little consulting for my buddies but just a couple hours now and then. I can only handle so much now without rest. 2 naps a day is about what I need.

But, the blessing in all this, I now get to read and listen to music all day long.

Same for myself except the consulting. For me it was 58 with a genetic condition (more than one). Life throws unexpected curve balls.

We saw the last piece live yesterday.
It was composed especially for Grubinger, and is so difficult to play that no other 'drummer' has performed it.
Spectacular!!
Will do a review later.
Good recording, quite close to the concert we heard.

Second listen.
I'm beginning to really appreciate this composer.

Evaristo e Joseph Dall'Abaco - "Padre e figlio"
Les Basses Réunies, Bruno Cocset

A sonic delight.
And a musical one too.

Thank you so much for the kindest thoughts. Indeed, the system keeps me mentally and emotionally centered. I use it daily for about 5-7 hrs in the early morning until about noon to keep pain and discomfort at bay. What do I spin mostly? Classical and then Old jazz for the last few hrs typically. Thank
Heavens for Music and tubes.

You're most welcome.
Music has indeed a wonderful healing effect.
I also listen mostly to classical and jazz... through tubes.

yes it does however, on occasion we are fortunate to hit one or two of those curve balls out of the park. Not all curve balls are strikes.

Starting this newly acquired box set:

Rued Langgaard - The Symphonies
Danish National Symphony Orchestra
Danish National Choir
, Thomas Dausgaard

I had this set a long time on my wish list, after a recommendation in this thread, and having heard other works from him.
As it was seriously discounted now, I purchased it.

SACD 1: Symphony no. 1 "Klippepastoraler" ("Mountain Pastorale")

Composed in 1908-11, when Langgaard was still very young (born 1893).
Powerful yet romantic work.
Listening to it, I smile!
