Wadia Impressions
Just wondering how many of you have had a chance to hear late model Wadia gear and what your impressions are. Unfortunately there is no local dealer here and I've been intrigued by their products for a long time. Maybe on a business trip I can find a dealer to finally lsiten.

It's been awhile since I've listened to a lot of Wadia stuff, but my impressions were: WOW and overly detailed. Certainly not a "warm" sound. All of their equipment is built like a tank. A serious tank, at that. Build quality beyond compare.
They still make some of the highest up-sampling DAC's out there. Their remotes are still metal, almost a graphite feel. Pricey? You betcha! Worth a listen to? Absolutely! Worth buying? Depends on your own ear.

That will be great Stillone! I guess it goes without saying that part of the interest is how the Wadia players sound with Mac electronics. And I'm guessing those MBLs will reveal whatever character the Wadia gear has.

Vesuvius,
As I read your reply and gazed at your avatar I couldn't help but ask myself, does he mean a tank or a brick house?

She can huff and puff and blow my ... house ... down whenever she wants to. As far as the Wadia, I still say tank since those are all metal.

I'm very happy with the 781i SE.. I used it for SACD playback and a DAC for my Sooloos, Wadia 170i and Mac Book.

Though the physical appearance and build quality had not changed in their latest model 781i se, the transport is no longer the same. I have not been able to make direct comparison between these 2 machines, but certainly, I will still want to own one if I am not a die-hard McIntosh fan.
