Dan...great job on those stands. They look like they came with the speakers. Can't wait to hear how those well kept classics sound connected to the MC 2301.

Dan,
The day before your last day give me a call. I'll save you the time of deciding what to do with them. Besides, Marlene and Gus won't want to deal with them either.

In 1977 I had the then named Century L100 - with blue egg-crate style grills. Is the 4312A a rendition of those earlier JBLs?

Kevin.......The JBL L100 was actually an improved home version of the professional studio monitor 4310. The recording industry listened to the L100 and asked JBL for a newer version for professional application and JBL obliged with the 4311. Continuing their constant design improvements JBL then introduced the JBL 4312, 4312A and 4312B loudspeakers.

To answer your question, the JBL 4312A uses different drivers than the L100, were built in mirrored pairs unlike the L100, and were slightly shallower in depth than the L100. The 4312A introduced the 03Ti pure titanium dome high frequency transducer that maintains flat on-axis response to 27kHz. The new 104H-3 midrange driver with optimally damped response coupled with the 2313A woofer delivered high sound pressure levels with lower distortion. The JBL 4312A speaker was part of the JBL Professional line, where the JBL L100 was part of JBL's Home line of loudspeakers.
