I simply don't have room for those. I will be getting this flat-pack. You can get extra baffles for different drivers.

I am really liking my Frugal XL they really surprise you in the bass dept. My wood working skills are not great. The flatpack assembly made them look like store bought LOL

I feel out of place but Zu’s seems translate some of Mr. Had’s amps nicely...
Or some OB Fullrange speakers out of old tube state consoles always delights...
I gotta look into Proacs now, I’m curious 🧐

Have been very pleased with Zu's Omen DW with Clarity caps using one of Dennis' earlier designs (Cary Rocket 88) which makes 20wpc of Class A triode.

That's pretty sweet! Have you gotten this kit yet? If so, what are your impressions?

I haven't spent much time reading about these. What is the recommended orientation in the corners? Do they sound good further out away from the corners?

As mentioned in the Dennis Had Amps thread, I just joined the Inspire owners family with a Fire-Bottle KT88

Been trying it so far with the Omega Compact Alnico Monitors (94.5 dB), great imaging and foot tapping, excellent match.

The Fire-Bottle is able to drive the SF Elipsas (91 dB) but with a more laid back presentation. Needless to say that I won't even try it with the Maggies...

Next in line will be the more challenging ProAc SM100, Harbeth 30.1 and Dynaudio Special Forty. I will report with findings.

And thinking of trying some open baffle speakers in the near future, so far I have Lii's, Spatials and PAPs on my short list.

I use Phase Technology PC 3.5 speakers. They are supposed to be around 90db sensitivity. I think the older version were a little easier to drive. I have tried low powered tubes like the 6v6 in my amp but they just couldn't give me the power that the speakers need. I currently use the PSVane KT88 Treasure tubes in my Inspire KT88 amp (shocking I know). I tried a variety of other tubes like the 7581a, 807, and EL34 but none of them had the clarity and drive the KT88 tubes do. I'm now thinking about trying some KT150 tubes as I've heard good things about them.

I used to sell them years ago and have always liked the company's sound. You don't hear much about them any more which is too bad. I've always found Phase Tech PC series to be very easy to drive and do a good job disappearing. Paired with good tube equipment I also think they do a great job recreating accurate timbre as well.

The new version of the speakers also look quite a bit better than the old ones. Makes me want to improve the looks of my stands...

ProAc SM100 (88 dB) responding surprisingly well, different taste, what you lose in speed/attack vs the Omegas you gain in body, also throwing a wider/deeper stage.

Now playing Ben Webster/Tete Montoliu Trio, Don't Blame Me from the Gentle Ben album... goosebumps
