I'm happy that you found out the problem and that you can do something about it. In some rooms the bass nodes can be like that. In some places a lot of bass and some almost nothing.

How does the "dealer set up" differ from the one you had (with the exception of the rake angle)?

I didnt make any other changes to the position.
I have the spot marked off and plan to actually try the Master Series process to see how it compares....but not right now.
Im happy just to listen for awhile

I think you gotta play with positioning of your listening chair, I wonder if you're in a dip of a standing wave. Typically bass sounds more reinforced the lower your seat is as well.

That's why I think it's the natural position of the speakers. They have a pretty aggressive positive rake angle.
The bass was towards the upper 1/3 of room height.
