I am awaiting an Omega XC for my Denali 6000V2 -- it will be on an existing dedicated 20 amp line. The 6000 V2 will power a dCS Vivaldi stack (DAC/Clock/Upsampler), D’Agostino Momemtum HD preamp, and a pair of D’Agostino M300 amps. That fills all six outlets.

I have one outlet available on the 20 amp circuit, and I wonder if running the preamp direct from the wall will lessen the load on the 6000 V2, and result in an improvement in SQ?

To further lessen the load on the 6000 V2, I plan on additional 20 amp circuit(s) to be installed for the amps. I could probably get by with one more outlet for both the amps, but two outlets will simplify power cabling runs and keep them at the same length.

If I have two more 20 amp circuits run, and plug the preamp and amps into them, I’ll wind up with three unused outlets. At that point I could conceivably run the dCS stack direct from the wall, and bypass the need for the 6000 V2 all together.

The power cabling loom is below:

POWER
Wall to Shunyata 6000V2. Shunyata Omega XC
Shunyata 6000V2 to preamp. Stealth Dream V18 (preamp)
Shunyata 6000V2 to DAC. Stealth Dream V12 (digital)
Shunyata 6000V2 to Clock. Stealth Dream V18 (digital)
Shunyata 6000V2 to Upsampler. Shunyata Sigma V2 NR
Shunyata 6000B2 to mono amps. stealth Dream V10 (power)
Shunyata 6000V2 to Macmini. Shunyata Venom 14 (digital)

Does anyone have experience running their entire front end direct from the wall with no conditioning?

Of course, if I go this route, it will call for a couple more Sigma NR cables...I already have one on the way...

Also, I joined the site a couple days ago and don’t have access to post new threads, only to reply to existing ones. Do I need to do anything further to fully activate my new account?

Thanks,

Dave Mitchell

Cheers Vermonter, welcome from a former Masshole (now a Washington Mossback)

You can become a subscriber for $25, which gives you ability to start threads, send PMs, access the marketplace to buy and sell equipment, and participate in music giveaway drawings among other things. Here’s the link: https://www.audioaficionado.org/payments.php.

My experience with Shunyata’s conditioners has led me to go the opposite direction: run as much as possible through my Denali V1, and now through a new Everest. I’ve found the sound of my system significantly benefited from running everything, including Momentum HD pre and S250 amp, through the conditioner.

Tony,

Thanks for the info and insight, both much appreciated. I’ll give both power arrangements a try and see/hear what turns out to be optimum.

If I had the room, I’d have an Everest. Then again, I’m sure the right spot will come to me eventually. I started out in my most recent upgrade binge shooting for a full Stealth loom (I have 17 of their cables at present), but I’m drifting away from that in search of the right cable for the right purpose now.

I’ll join the site later today and post some other info about my system and some photos. I had some memorable moments (and some that ought to be, but I can’t remember them) in MA, esp in Boston.

Slainte,

Mitch

I think you get the most bang for your buck by running your entire front end via the Denali. As Tony says, you can also run your Amps through it.

The priority should be to ‘condition’ your front end. I feel amps are secondary but I can’t run mine through my Denali as They are too far apart. If you can’t run your amps from your Denali, power them with their own dedicated lines using an NR PC from Shunyata. (Omega/Sigma/Alpha).

You can power everything from a single Everest/Denali. But if you can separate frontend from poweramps and put them on their own dedicated line. That usually nets an improvement in ease, flow and dynamics.

I run my front L C R active speakers on a separate Triton V3. If I had two mono amps I would probably try them first directly to wall and then a conditioner to see how they respond.

FYI I moved my rack back between my speakers, had it on a side wall, so I could put my Mac 501’s back on my Denali.

More subtle improvement than my front end but still a difference maker!

The new Delta NRv2 is the same gauge as the Venom NR-V10, but now has VTX-Ag condutors, CopperCONN connectors for the plugs, and a newly inproved NR noise filter that is more effective than the one in the Venom NR-V10. It's a notable step up in performance than the Venom NR-V10 with greater clarity, transparency, and faster dynamics.

The Alpha V2 is all that and more, with a really loveley and very musical presentation that has excellent layering of the soundstage, and detailed articulation and resolution. Its a really beautiful-sounding PC and my personal choice for my preamp and DAC.

PumaCat, thanks for the thorough response. I'm on a real Shunyata kick now...next up to decide after one of these cables is the Hydra Delta. BTW, if anyone wants to share 2021 info so I don't buy everything all at once, feel free

I should, I've just bought some Bybee products from them. Sort of a mixed bag from what I hear on the lending library.

I was more thinking to use them for speaker cables, although from your review of the Alpha V2s, not sure if it's worth it.

I'm using the Alpha V2 Speaker cables and love them, they're wonderful, and the HARP device increases focus and 3-D spatiality.
