I wish that they would just all sign it and begin using their/our “time” more wisely on other more important matters, like lowering gas prices, etc.

It probably never happen in New Zealand even though I would love it to, as with daylight saving it gets dark in summer in the North Island at around 9pm, but not until 10pm in the South Island- plus the Farming Community is still large here & it is no fun milking the cows at 4am!

In 2 weeks' time, we go back to winter hours- not a happy time for me.

Interesting. This was tried back in the 80’s during the last energy crises and repealed by a huge margin one season after it was enacted. The reality of kids at the bus stop in the dark at 8:00AM, the disconnect with Europe, the disconnect with people’s natural circadian rhythms, and the fact that zero energy was saved all contributed to its demise.

As one of Ben Franklin's biggest fans (that's a long story), I have to point out that Ben is frequently credited (or blamed) with first proposing daylight savings time. But that is mistaken - the misnomer originated from a satirical column Ben wrote and the mistaken belief persists, which is not fair to Ben.

The column was mildly amusing, but not as much so as Ben's paeans to the wonders of flatulence, imo.
