PPP: Clicking...Another trip to Boulder, CO?

My PPP seems to be acting up recently. It clicks and clicks and clicks. It goes away after I unplug, wait, and re-plug. But in the past 2 weeks, the number of hard resets I've had to do is increasing to every 3-4 days or so.

It has previously been to service back in July when they replaced the regenerator board. How often do other PPP owners have to do a hard reset? Should I send it back or wait till the intervals get shorter? Not really look forward to another month worth of downtime.

Never had to do a reset... I would send it back for repair.

Aaron...sorry to hear of your troubles. My PPP has been flawless since I got it back from repair. Even though it's a pain you should send it in for repair as Ivan suggested. Better safe than sorry.

A phone call to one of PS Audio technicians might give you some solutions and save your unit from another trip to Boulder, CO. I think it's worth a shot before you disassemble everything and ship it.

Thank you all for your thoughts. Guess I'll call PS Audio and see what happens. My previous experience with them didn't exactly leave me feeling confident in their over the phone troubleshooting.

Seems lately that my gear gets to do more traveling than my family!

All this talk about sending the PPP to Boulder for timeout has put the fear of God into it. Hasn't acted up in a week!

If it does not protect your equipment in time of need i assume ppp will back up there product and reimburse you. I know there are a lot of backers of ppp on AA, but as times goes on it seems we hear more about problems regarding these units.

Mike.......Considering how many Power Plant Premiers that are in service, I think the few issues that have come up are probably no larger in number proportionately than other manufacturers, of course that's just a guess on my part.

I do know one thing about PS Audio. They take care of their customers. I have four PPP's, and two have caused me issues. One had a constantly clicking relay and a wildly swinging display. It was replaced with a brand new unit. The second one had one of the two fans on the bottom that stopped spinning and hummed when it was suppose to be spinning. PS Audio replaced both fans in the Power Plant Premier. In addition, PS Audio issued prepaid return FedEx shipping labels for both units, and paid the return shipping. The turn around time was very quick, less than six working days from me shipping it to them. You really can't ask for better warranty repair service than that. Both PPP's have been working perfectly, and the two without issues work perfectly as well.
