Handmade Persian. My dad bought it in Bahrain in 1967 from the woman who made this rug stich by stich. My dad has since passed on. The rug means a lot to me.
That is a beauty.

I looked at an antique beautiful rug when i moved into my new room, that was about $30k. I ended up putting in something much more modest and bought a turntable instead. I will come back to that rug though - it is still at the dealer.

We have an Afghan tribal rug which was woven by Afghan refugees in Pakistan in the 90s. It's Nipper approved (see picture). To the left of Nipper is the corner of a Moroccan rug in front of the turntable stand, which we bought in Fez a few years ago. Not sure what the knobbly things are in the foreground of the photo.

Interesting and amusing about audiophiles and Persian rugs. When we moved into a purchased home, and paid to keep several large ones in that home because of their beauty. We had never owned one before but have since added several in rooms including the Living (listening) room that also are hand woven but from Egypt and although expensive will last forever and of easy maintenance. I have noticed that in many system photos there are Persian looking rugs but unsure if authentic and tightly/well woven of best wool and silk.

Your comment made me think of a similar sound echo reduction when my two Newfoundlands come into the room. 310 pounds of echo elimination
