Default Upgrade from DA2 dac to ?
I have a C2700 and MC452 to Amati tradition with 2xRel S812 and im looking to upgrade the Dac.

What would be the next step from Da2 in the C2700 that works well with my system?

I have very much enjoyed my Schiit Yggdrasil. It has excellent synergy with McIntosh amplification and Sonus Faber loudspeakers. It is a multi-bit DAC, whereas the DA2 uses a delta-sigma type of D/A converter. I think both approaches have their strengths and weaknesses, I prefer the sound of multi-bit and R2R DAC’s.

Your budget for one will go a long way in determining the best DAC for you Mac.

I'll be paying close attention to this thread as I wait on my subs to be delivered. Once those puppies are integrated into my system my next step is possibly a dedicated DAC. My current list of contenders are Lampizator, HaloAudio, Denafrips and PS Audio DirectStream. I'm leaning toward R2R. Good luck with search and please keep us informed.

I have a Holo Audio May KTE this is the best DAC I have ever owned. It works well with my MC462. I am waiting for my C2700 to arrive, and I plan on giving the DA2 a listen, but I don't think it will beat my May DAC.

I did have Schiit Yggdrasil before and tht was nice but i want to try a new/different dac this time.

Think is going to be a Holo or Denafrips

It’s all about the flavor you are looking for.

Want smooth, want all the detail, want analytical-

There’s a DAC for every “flavor”.

I now have 6 Dacs that I’m rotating and they all sound different.

“Better” is very subjective.
