New to me Bart. I enjoyed it and it now resided in my Roon collection.

I think the pics of the actual musicians/composers goes a long way to put a face with a name/album and makes it more "human"

Mahler - Songs with Orchestra
San Francisco Symphony, Michael Tilson Thomas Susan Graham, mezzo-soprano Thomas Hampson, baritone SACD, Orchestra's own label Not the best vocal performances by Hampson, but Susan Graham is superb. These Lieder are a favourite of ours and they are well recorded. Listening in 5.0.

Try 'Vertigo' also. I first heard it when I was jogging through my in-ears via our classical radio station. Wow! I was hooked.

Some more Mahler tonight. This recording remains a reference performance. Listening to the 3-channel version.

Mahler - Symphony no. 4
Budapest Festival Orchestra, Iván Fischer Miah Persson, soprano In the SACD sleeve, I see our tickets of a May '18 concert of this symphony with the BFO, with Christiane Karg as soprano. It was as always with this orchestra, a memorable experience. We normally attend 2-3 concerts with the BFO each year. Unfortunately, last spring everything was cancelled of course. This SACD is wonderful in all aspects. The 3-D presentation it offers the closest thing to the live performance we are currently craving.

Very nice. I have all his albums in the Roon folder now. Something about a well played Harpsichord when the mood strikes. To me it always sounds mystical and medieval. Renaissance and Baroque music periods must have sounded different when they were widely used and later phased out by fortepiano and piano.
