Something to balance out the John Adams just played:
Bach: Violinkonzerte in A-Moll und E-Dur; Konzert fur Zwei Violinen in D-Moll (Violin Concerto in A minor & E Major, Concerto for Two Violins in D minor) David Oistrach & Igor Oistrach, violins Vienna Symphony, Sir Eugene Goossens conducting Deutsche Grammophon on vinyl, 1964 German issue I've probably listed this here before, but I never tire of this one. Although I have other recordings of these pieces, this is probably my favorite: the playing superb and the recording is great also, especially on vinyl. If you love these concertos this recording is worth having in your collection.

Grieg & Schumann: Piano Concertos
I'm enjoying a new acquisition...
Grieg: Piano Concerto in A minor, Op. 16 Schumann: Piano Concerto in A minor, Op. 54 Janne Mertanen (piano) Gävle Symphony Orchestra, Hannu Koivula  This is an SACD from the Finnish label Alba. I found it to be an excellent performance in which the orchestra plays gloriously and the piano is well-captured. The recording is warm, full and balanced. Academy of St. Martin in the Fields - Neville Marriner, Director More great music from the 28 disc Decca production of Neville Marriner - The Argo Years. Beautiful music well played and well reproduced here. I am still so impressed by the quality of this box set and will keep playing until I've heard them all.

Listening to . . . Disc 1 from the RCA box set - Artur Rubinstein - The Chopin Collection
Nocturnes Opus 9, 15, 22 & 32 The World's Greatest Chopin Interpreter . . . or so many would say . . . playing the marvelous music of The World's Greatest Piano Music Composer . . . and playing it darn well . . . . A very good set of a great lot of Chopin's music played beautifully and sounding very, very good. Eleven discs in this box set, which may be had at Amazon for only $28.69 or roughly $2.61 per disc . . . . and for this music . . . This is a world class bargain.

Was just visiting patients at home, and listening to a very good Franz Schubert's 8th Symphony 'The Unfinished' ('Die Unvollendete').
Mahler's Chamber Orchestra, directed by Roger Norrington. Live recording, 2011, by our radio station Klara. I loved the very pronounced and bodied cellos and basses, and the excellent horns.
