Charles, your room looks great… and as if you put a lot of thought and effort into it.

I should take pics of the room. It’s quite good! I’m fortunate. We have measured with a room correction unit and it is quite good. 30x17…9 Ft ceilings. Rugs and appropriate furniture. Curtains. Very solid. It’s a living room so not going to egg carton it up but I’m happy with it….as is my wife

I agree with you that my Sonus Faber Amati’s WERE my weak link. This past weekend I replaced with the Magico M2s. Wow. What a difference. With all my changes, though often more expensive, I don’t really consider them upgrades….just moving to a different sound. My Mac - Sonus Faber system was wonderfully satisfying. I love my new system too. The detail, openness, bass tightness, imaging and lifelike musical feel is really enjoyable for me. But as stated, it’s just different than my past system….I also love the Mac sound….prior to the 601s I had the 275 iv biamped with an mc252 on the bottom. Loved it. And my dear friend has a pair of the hybrid 901s which are stunning. I really enjoy listening to the various interpretations of music by so many great high end manufacturers!
Electric, thanks for your comment. I'm very glad that you took my advice and upgraded your speakers. As to your room, I like a room where there is zero clap echo and as little reinforcement of the bass with standing bass waves as possible. That's the reason for all my room treatment. I have a very highly resolving system that is very sympathetic, forgiving, and resilient to extremely high sound levels, but still sounds great at moderate to low sound levels in the range of 3.5 watts. If you are achieving the sound that you like I would not go with any active equalization. You have an absolutely superb system just below that of a true reference system now that you have upgraded your speakers. If you decide that you want high sound levels, use passive equalization only. However, Ivan says the Acuphase DG-68 equalizer is the equalizer to use if you want to go the active route. Check with Ivan about this. This might be a route to pursue as opposed to the passive route. I might add that equalization is not compatible with Wilson speakers and I think you must be very careful with speakers using bi or tri amping.

Best,

Charles

I'm a roller skater, so sometimes I like music at home really loud. That's Jennifer. She's a fantastic skater. She came with Antonio but I stole her from him for the skate session, ha, ha! I skated with her the whole night.

Charles, I hadn’t thought of any active correction. I hooked up a Mac men room correction just as a test….after setting it up for correction, we did an A/B with the bypass to test the room. It’s not a pure audiophile listening room….it is a living room with a pool table…but the A/B showed that it is quite good. My wife has been kind enough to put up with our living room showcasing my stereo, vinyl collection and a pool table, so I will probably live with the room as is. As for Magicos, I have been listing to Cremonese Extreme and Magicos for a while now trying to choose my next speaker. After an in home demo, I chose the Magicos! Ironic as the next day I saw your comment about my speakers. Great Ears thing alike!! Thank you for your comments

Electric, I think Magico's and Boulder are a superb match. I think that you are set for a long time, but if you have the money, the itch for upgrades is always there. A pure Magico/Boulder system is beyond reproach and you have so many options with a system like this. An equalizer like the Dg-68 will allow you to play at higher sound levels, IMO, but if you have adequate sound levels, a pure signal path is always the most desirable. Enjoy your system for a good long while as it is. Congratulations again on your wise choices of gear: yes:

Best

Charles
