Wow, nice device.
now with front panel you can see the successful proportions.
According to your description, it sounds even better than it looks.
I am curious, hopefully the delivery does not take too long with eternal storage and processing time at customs in Frankfurt.

I will write something about the Phono stage when it is burned in.

But until then, it will take some time.

Learned a lesson tonight, again. Found a combo of tubes in my push pull amp that sounded amazing. Took the same compliment and put them in my KT88 Firebottle and bleh. The Fivre b36 with 5b/254m combo just doesn’t work in the Firebottle. Flat and kind of dry sounding. Switched the input tube to a 14n7 and I’m back to the sweet sounds I’m used to.

Whenever you hear people talk about what a tube “sounds like” just keep in mind that description might just be right in their amp. It might only apply to that amp and that pair of speakers as well. So beware of buying tubes by their reputation!

Default PSE 300b Update

Dennis was working on this all afternoon, and when I left the shop he said he was staying until it was finished. Well he finished it. Said it's the best amp he's ever heard, period. Mighty strong language there. What does that tell you?

Check out the distortion curve. Second order distortion is down -45db. Third order distortion? What third order distortion?

If I had the coin jingling in my pocket, I'd buy one...

Wow! Is that tempting. Makes me want to switch my 300B-v in the queue to one of these. Dang.

Very nice. $3000 worth of output tubes at retail.

What is the knob on the front for?

Volume/gain. Allows a high output source to run directly to the amp.

Dear all,
I am wondering if anyone can help me troubleshoot a problem that just suddenly appeared in my system. I have a Dennis Had LP-2 preamp feeding a Decware Torii MK3, which until about an hour ago, was making glorious and truly magical music. This combo was dead silent; I could turn the gain all the way up on the LP-2 and the volume all the way up on the Torii with no music playing, and I could put my ear inches from my speakers and not hear even a whisper. Suddenly, a hum started coming out of the mid/woofer on my speakers. The loudness of the hum is independent of the gain on the LP-2, but it increases as I turn up the volume on the Torii. The hum becomes audible when the Torii’s volume pot is at around 10 o’clock and gets louder and louder as I increase the volume, even if the gain pot on the LP-2 is turned all the way down. If I flip the input switch on the Torii to the other inputs (to which nothing is connected), there is no hum, even if I turn the volume pot all the way up, so it seems to be somehow related to an interaction between the LP-2 and the Torii. This is most frustrating, as it occurred with no warning, and I can’t figure out what is causing it or how to make it stop.
I would be very grateful for any thoughts/suggestions.
Thanks so much,
Chris

If it helps at all, this hum started after I installed my new Sophia Princess 274b meshplate rectifier, but it only began after listening for about 2 hours.
Swapping out the 274b for the original 5Y3GT does not solve the problem. I have also tried swapping out all 3 6FM7 tubes to no avail.
Any help would be greatly appreciated...
Thanks so much,
chris

Chris - what have you done about checking out your Decware amp?
