UPDATE: The new C2700 is in the house.
I took delivery of it a few days ago after about a seven week waiting period. I'm not sure if they had addition ones come in but I was next on the list. My dealer said McIntosh is extremely busy and all orders are backed up. My first impressions you ask? WOW has the noise floor dropped. I went from a A/V receiver to the pre-amp so expectations were high and the C2700 did not disappoint. It also helped that I am running balance thought-out now. Along with that there is a noticeable improvement in bass response and that is AFTER removing my sub from the signal path. I'm hearing subtle details that I never heard before in familiar songs. It's nice to finally hear what some have reported here about hearing difference between streaming and CD playback. I'm still in the experimental phase so I'll report back later.

That's great. I had a similar experience when I moved from an AVR to a pre.

Hey guys I've been enjoying the C2700 for a few months and I'm thinking my next move is a MEM220. Many questions were answered by reading through the post here but because most of the post were older permit me to possible ask again.
1) How transparent is the MEN220? I love what the C2700 (tubes) brings to the table. If the MEN220 sits between the pre-amp and amp as suggested will the A>D>A conversion take away from the tube sound? 2) Any pro/con comments for putting the MEN220 between the digital source and C2700? 3) Since the MEN220 is long in the tooth has anyone heard of possible updates/replacements?

But YMMV based on your system/room/ears. So my only real advice if you are considering is to try on a risk-free basis for 2-3 days

Do you need any of the functions the MEN220 offers? If you need them, then try it. Otherwise, I would pass. It can reduce low level detail. BUT if you can’t tame/integrate your subs or your overall room, then the MEN220 is worth a try. It brings a ton of functionality to bare. Trade offs.
