Hey bombadil, no it doesn't use the IIPS.
Dennis is sending them out with 6SL7s' but you can use the 6SN7 too.

I may have to try a 6SL7 in my PSE. Tried two different ones in my High Output KT88 and hated them.

Hey bombadil, I usually run 6SN7s' or 6BX7s'.
But the combination of the circuit I have in my amp now, and the speakers I'm using, along with the KT170s' is really very nice.

I may have just been poisoned to get his pre-amps as well. Does anyone know what is the gain on the Lp-27 or LP-3a? My McIntosh MA7200 has 1.2V on the pre amp stage so I need something comparable or higher.

Hey Bentan, Dennis designs for about 12 to 13 db gain on all the Inspire preamplifiers.
