I had to move about a year and a half ago what a pain. It's not like any movers will touch loading built engines, block, heads and any related car parts. I found a house 4 blocks away so that was good to be able to take truck loads over.

Film cameras I have collected twice in my life. Back in the late 90s searching local stores for gear, that was all sold off at some point. When I learned about computers (2010) and and the ease of finding things on eBay, holy smokes. I was able to have complete film camera equipment lines with the click of a mouse.

I get overwhelmed to the point of selling things off cheap. You know we always buy knowing it's such a good investment and fun to collect. I then reach a point where as I can get burnt out, decide on collecting something else or run out of room.

I have always had a hobby my entire life and then dive in with both feet. Got to know everything about it and become an authority on the topic. I think that's the big draw for me the knowledge gained learning about something. Oh and most of my hobbies and collecting are geared around something mechanical and or vintage.

Here is a funny story. I was taking care of my mom before she died and I pulled out my stamp collection. A friend I met that collected cameras also liked stamps so I was going to give it to him. My wise mom who was instrumental in my stamp collecting because this collection is from when I was 10. lol I have saved it for over 40 years!! At the time I was doing a full blown resto on cars and shooting film photography things that take energy. She said why are you giving that away? You have always had a hobby and you're not getting any younger, you need to think about something easy to do in you old age. Needless to say I still have my stamps.

She is right, any of us that collect and have hobbies need to think about when we get older. Is it something we can still do. Is it going to overwhelm our family when we pass on. Do they need some help in liquidating it that we can help them with it now. Not that we need to stop collecting or having hobbies. But leave things tagged with info, contact info of friends that know what things are worth. Even things like website info with member ID's and log on passwords is a resource and is better than just disapiring and let people you made friends with know what happened to you.
If anything ever happens to me, you better be a Subscriber and keep an eye on the Marketplace for sure!
