I have tried a Koetsu Jade on my Clearaudio Universal 12" arm and it was just not a great match - dull and lifeless As you improve the pairing, the Koetsus come alive with dynamics and "breath of life".

Just by "feel", yes around 10g effective mass for the Universal seems about right. The Graham Phantom Supreme did better with Koetsu, but the Fidelity Research arms (FR64fx and FR64S) do much better yet. They are both old and the 64fx sell used around $1400, which makes them a bargain especially when pairing to Koetsu. Their bearings don't even have to be in perfect condition (I have three examples, 2 with a tiny bit of "play" in the bearings), and they'll still smoke the Universal and Phantom in this application. Must have to do with the energy management? I'm not sure, but the sonic pairing is magic.
