I also got new K05Xs , same bad remote, but sound pretty good. I have no complain for the sound.
I happened to meet Esoteric staff during the K1X demo in Japan last week. I asked this question to him.
He said the remote control use old chip or something so it cannot be programmed for any more commands.
And he told me they tried the ON/OFF things with remote, mechanical front panel switch sounds better to them. But hey new generAtion players can shut itself down when not in use for a certain period of time , is it?
So that is not mechanical switch anymore.
