FYI: About the question of Manley EL84 based amps running hot; I phoned Manley and the tech said that all their EL84 amps--both Stingray and Mahi--run hot!
Best to give these small monoblocks plenty of space around them for ventilation, as they get too hot in a tightly spaced audio rack--or use a quiet fan to cool them.
Present production Manley Mahi transformers are similar to the Mercury Magnetics. Also, the split-bobin transformer that was tried on the Manley 50-watt monos proved to be troublesome, so that design was dropped.
