I bought my SP-3 based on Kal Rubinson's rave review, and i do think it sounds superb, yet I slightly prefer the sound when by passing the front LR through a Parasound JC 2 BP to JC 1 monoblocks. It may be synergy between the JC 2 and JC 1, both John Curl designs. So for surround, it's HDMI to the SP-3; for stereo it's balanced analog direct to the JC 2.
