I like the light weight and excellent image quality of the Nikon 16-85 zoom. I also have an 18-200, and image quality is also good, but the "lens creep" drives me crazy.

Whenever I need more speed, I use the tiny and cheap Nikon 35mm F1.8 lens. For distance I like the excellent Nikon 70-300 mm f/4.5-5.6G AF-S VR which is super sharp, yet light and manageable.

When I was younger, I owned and used the big and heavy f2.8 zooms, but now I favor slower, but considerably lighter and less bulky lenses.

I do wish that Nikon would make lenses similar to Canon's 17-40 F/4 and 70-200 F/4 "L" lenses. F4 is fast enough for most purposes and I would assuredly pay more for the superior image quality that could be provided by such lenses.

My camera body of choice is a Nikon D300 and I see no reason to update every time a new body in introduced. I also use a D-90 but wish I had the lighter and smaller D5100 and may make that change.
